I am just starting the journey on learning Power BI. I am attempting to use Power BI desktop on two different machines. The first machine is a Dell running Windows 11 Home and displays Power BI the same as in all of the online training programs.
However, the second machine - a Lenovo Threadripper Workstation running Windows 11 Pro displays some of the Power BI dropdowns differently. I first noticed the difference when I attempted to add (or Transform) a a DATE or TIME column to my querys. On the Windows 11 Home (W11H) machine the DATE drop down appears as:
When I attempt the same add column or transform column on the Windows 11 Pro (W11P) machine, I get a very different display. It shows ALL of the options available in a single column that extends off the bottom of the screen. If you want one of the last options, you can highlight one of the top choices and tab down to the options that are off the bottom of the screen. However, when you do that, the top of the screen is NO LONGER ACCESSABLE! This is a problem. You must move back to the report screen and apply the changes before you can return to the query screen.
Is there a way to resolve this problem? The display on W11H is the preferred approach. I have not had any success finding any resolution for this problem on line.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Light Mode (and Dark Mode) cause some unfortunate side effects within the Power Query interface, as seen in your second screenshot.
To fix: File > Options & Settings > Options > Global > Report settings > Customize appearance (preview) > Select Legacy.
Does this fix it for you?
You can share feedback following the link in the Options dialog box as well 🙂
Changing the "Customize appearance" to "Legacy" solved the issue. Thank You!
To fix: File > Options & Settings > Options > Global > Report settings > Customize appearance (preview) > Select Legacy
Hi @vanmetergary - can you please check the DPI scaling option in display settings , set with scale 100% and check the power query editor
and also check the resolution of the monitor.
Hope this helps.

This worked! I appreciate the quick assistance. Never would have thought of this one. Thanks again.
Sorry the confusion on the account name. Could not get the system to accept my original name. Thanks
