Hello,
I have been trying to solve this "Ragged Hierarchy" problem in PowerBI matrix visual.
I have three levels of hierarchy namelu 1. Module, 2. SubModule and 3. PageName, at time my Submodule could be null. Upon using these three columns in Matrix I am getting blank rows in between Module and PageName level. In order to avoid I have tried replacing Blank with N/A which is not of user prefrence.
So, is it possible to skip the level-2(Submodule) and get PageName(level-3)under Module whenever there is Empty Submodule(level-2)
I have referenced these links https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/hierarchies-dynamic-levels-matrix-field-parameters-%C5%A1t%C4%9Bp%C3%... and Removing Blanks from Organizational Ragged Hierarchy in Power BI Matrix Visual - RADACAD
Which is of not use for my case. Also used "Financial reporting matrix by profitbase" custom visual and it's asking for paid license if we have to use "Ragged hierarchy" option.
Kindly help me with a working solution.
Thanks.
I think this is on the roadmap to be added:

Row/Column Header Enhancements: Measure-driven column headers, advanced column/row headers style settings, transparency and conditional formatting support, auto/fixed/dynamic size width/height, multi-column/row header grouping, support for Web URL, image URL, and SVG, ragged hierarchy support, ability to expand/collapse row and column headers by default, and more.
Hi @sharmisaranga09, some screenshots of current and desired output as well as sample file (with dummy data, if needed), would be great to assist you!
What about the reference links you've provided? Have you tried do what is written there and failed to achieve it Please provide more details on it.
Thanks!
Hi Sergii24,
in the screenshot i have a module as top node submodule as second node and page as third node. only second node has empty for few modules but has child page node. What do you suggest?
Hi @sharmisaranga09, if I understood you correctly you'd like to "move" 3rd level of hierarchy to the second one, when the corresponding value in 2nd level is missing:
Is it correct? If so, I don't have much to add to the great post mentioned in your initial request. It shows very well all tehcnical steps to approach such kind of problem.
However, I'd rather challenge this request from the functinal point of view. If you have 3 levels of hierarchy well, then there is some business value in it, isn't it? If so, why would you mix them? Simply because 2nd level is missing? Well, it's not missing, it's undefined, so seeing data from this perspective might be useful to define it or review business process 😉 Saying that, I believe it's more a fucntional discussion rather than tehcnical.
