Power BI will typically reuse stored credentials when connecting to the same data source, so you shouldn’t need to re-enter your ID and password each time. However, this only works if the source is recognized as the exact same connection. If the data source belongs to a different account (for example, a similar dataflow hosted under another tenant or login), Power BI treats it as a separate source and won’t reuse the existing credentials.
In your case, the issue happens because each report may be tied to slightly different data source definitions or credential scopes. So even if they look identical, Power BI doesn’t always carry over the authentication.
In every report, go to:
Home → Transform data → Data source settings → change the source connection to use the exact same server name format, casing, and parameters across all files.
Once all reports point to an identical connection string, credentials entered in one report are reused automatically in subsequent ones.
Hi,
Try giving credentials in Data Source settings. Go to Data Source Settings -> Data Source -> Edit Permission ->Credentials -> Edit (choose according to your data source) and set the Privacy Level accordingly and sign in.
You should do this for the reports that are causing issues.
Try this, let us know if that works
Global credentials cache conflict.
Batch fix:
File → Options → Data Load → Global permissions → Clear All
Power BI Helper (free tool) → Clear credentials all reports at once
Refresh first report → enter creds → Data source settings → Global → Clear unused
