Current Date will not update

BI is refreshing daily, but will not load new content to the dashboard through the Power BI online service. If we refresh the corresponding dashboard on our computer through desktop, it works.

This is the daste formula

LastDateInSIR = "As Of: "&FORMAT(LASTDATE('!SIR'[DATE]),"MM/dd/yy")

Hi v-priyankata,

We did figure out the issue. Its not anything to do with the measure; we could see the last date in our data in the downloaded dashboard. Since you have to download the dashboard to see this we add the lastdate measure to everything to evaluate data is current.

What turned out to be the issue was that this option, in Power Query editor, was not selected:

Hi @HomerW

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric Forum Community.

The measure uses (LASTDATE('!SIR'[DATE]), which depends on the report’s filter context. In Power BI Service, dashboard tiles can sometimes keep a cached result even after the dataset refresh finishes. Because of this, the dashboard may still show the older date. When you refresh the report in Power BI Desktop, the model recalculates immediately and returns the latest date from the table, so it updates correctly.

First, confirm that the dataset refresh in Power BI Service completed successfully. If the dashboard still shows the old value, refresh or repin the dashboard tile so it pulls the latest data from the refreshed dataset. Repinning forces the tile to query the dataset again and display the updated result from the LASTDATE measure.

If there are any deviations from your expectation please let us know we are happy to address.

Thanks.

Hi @HomerW,

thanks for sharing this insight. May I ask you which type of storage mode your semantic model is? Just out of curiousity and context.

Best regards!

Hi Mauro89,

I'm very new to supporting this product and don't know all the terms yet. If your asking about our DB's we have many.  From SQL server to Oracle and many others.

Thanks,

HW

Hi @HomerW,

no worries! I'm reffering to the storage mode of your semantic model, meaning the dataset behind your report. This can have different storage modes like described here Table Storage Mode in Power BI Semantic Models - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

Thanks and best regards!
